How AI Resume Maker collects, uses, and protects information when you build a resume with our AI tools.

This Privacy Policy explains how AI Resume Maker("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit https://ai-resume-maker.comor use our resume builder, editor, and related features (the "Service").

We designed the Service so that resume drafts stay on your device whenever possible. We only send content to our servers when you use a feature that requires it, such as AI writing help or resume file import.

This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Resume content you type or import, including name, contact details, work history, education, skills, and other career information.
  • Files you upload (such as PDF, DOCX, or TXT resumes).
  • Chat messages and instructions you send to the in-editor AI assistant.
  • Optional media you add to a resume in the editor (for example, a photo), which is stored in your browser.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data needed to operate the Service, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and request timestamps.
  • Limited server logs used for security, debugging, and reliability.

We do not currently require an account to use the builder. A "Login" control on the site may take you into the builder; it does not create a stored user profile unless we later add authentication and tell you in an updated policy.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Generate, edit, format, and export resumes (including PDF and Word).
  • Provide AI suggestions while you write and edit resume content.
  • Extract text from resume files you upload so we can pre-fill resume fields.
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Service.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your resume content to train our own foundation models.

3. AI processing

When you use AI features, relevant content — such as resume text, chat messages, or extracted file text — is sent to third-party AI providers so they can generate a response. Depending on configuration, that may include providers such as OpenRouter and Google Gemini.

Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We send only what is needed for the requested task. You should not include secrets, passwords, government ID numbers, or other sensitive data that is not needed on a resume.

AI output can be incomplete or incorrect. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying every resume before you send it to an employer.

4. Storage and retention

  • On your device.Resume drafts and related editor data are saved in your browser's local storage so you can return later. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching devices will remove or hide that draft.
  • On our servers. We do not keep a permanent account database of your resumes. Content sent for AI, URL extraction, or public search is processed to fulfill that request. We may retain limited operational logs for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
  • Third-party processors. AI, search, scraping, and hosting providers may retain data according to their own policies.

5. Sharing and third parties

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • AI providers to generate resume content, chat replies, and designs.
  • Search and extraction providers (for example, public web search or page-fetch services) when you ask us to import a URL or research a public professional profile.
  • Hosting and infrastructure that serve the website and APIs.
  • Legal and safety disclosures if required by law or to protect users, the Service, or others.

If you paste a third-party URL, we retrieve publicly available content from that page solely to help build your resume. We do not use the Service to access private accounts on your behalf.

6. Cookies and local storage

The Service uses browser local storage to save your resume draft and editor preferences. We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies required for the site to function. We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell browsing data to ad networks.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because drafts live in your browser, you can delete them at any time by clearing this site's local storage or using your browser settings.

To request help with a privacy question, email support@airesumemaker.app. We may need enough information to identify the request and cannot recover drafts that exist only on a device we do not control.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, we process information as needed to provide the Service you request (performance of a contract), to operate and secure the Service (legitimate interests), and where required, with your consent.

8. Children

The Service is intended for people who are at least 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International transfers

We and our processors may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and other locations where AI and hosting providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your own.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. The revised policy applies when it is posted, unless a later effective date is stated.
